Work In Progress Blog Tour

I was tagged by a friend of mine to do the WIP Blog Tour. So I guess the rules of this thing state that you have to post a picture of your workspace. You may have seen my office before. There are about six billion of them around the country.

I wonder if Hemingway spent his days wondering how many more stars he needed for a free latte?

I wonder if Hemingway spent his days wondering how many more stars he needed for a free latte?

As for the actual work in progress, I'm going to post the first three lines from the first three chapters of GODSEND, the first book in the Circle War series.

Chapter 1

“Alpha, this is Phoenix. Are you in position?”

Chapter 2

Coming back from the dead was worse than getting killed.

Chapter 3

Rocks belonged in one of two categories: those that left bruises when he landed on them and those that broke ribs.

Okay, so that's all you get according to the rules, but since the rules are kind of stupid, here's a little more from each chapter to give you a better idea of what's going on:

Chapter 1

“Alpha, this is Phoenix. Are you in position?”

“I’m in a position,” August answered.

The swords on his back sat tangled between a network of pipes as he crawled above the subway tracks. He dislodged them with a tug, nearly costing him his balance.

Chapter 2

Coming back from the dead was worse than getting killed.
To August, the rearrangement of muscle tissue felt a lot like someone using his guts for modeling clay. Fingers of electricity spread around the bullet holes in his chest, gradually pulling everything back into place while blood and bits of gravel oozed out of the perforations along his spine. It was enough to make him squirm, if only that were possible.

Chapter 3

Rocks belonged in one of two categories: those that left bruises when he landed on them and those that broke ribs. As August lay on the rocks next to the track with the end of the train roaring past, he took a stinging breath. “Christ,” he said through a grimace. “Why do they always have to be breakers?”

And there you have it. I'm supposed to tag others at this stage of the post, but instead I'm going to link back a few of my writer friends who've done it so far, including Sarah of The Droids, the band who'll be providing the music for the eventual GODSEND book trailer. Check out her work, as well as WIP snippets from Sonya Craig, Debi Smith, and Katherine Lampe.
